Many congenital deformities of the spine are not associated with any significant problems. Some do, those that suggest spinal deformity associated with growth. Congenital Scoliosis caused by Hemiverterbra is such a deformity.
Hemiverterbra results because of the failure of the lateral or side half of the vertebral body to form. This will produce a wedge shaped vertebrae or a half of a vertebrae.
Spina Bifida is another significant congenital deformity. This deformity will have a gap in the back of one or more of the arches in the back of the Vertebrae. Tissue will protrude through this gap. In some cases the tissue will include neutral tissue and in some cases it will not.
