Endurance Benefits

Increased endurance is a result of changes in the cardiovascular, muscular and pulmonary systems.

Immediate changes include:

  • More blood flow to the muscles
  • Increased heart rate
  • Arterial pressure increase
  • Increased demand and consumption of oxygen
  • More respirations and deeper respirations

The muscles have increased density of the capillary beds over The long term.  Muscles are more efficient in using the increased oxygen through an increase in blood flow to the muscles which will reduce fatigue.

The resting heart rate decreases.  After exercise the heart returns to a lower rate quicker and the heart’s working capacity efficiency improves.

Improving endurance and reducing fatigue are key components in preventing injury.
