Endurance

Various types of exercise include strength, cardiovascular Fitness and endurance, flexibility and relaxation.  Endurance involves being able to perform activities over prolonged periods of time. This is necessary for performing daily tasks like walking or going up stairs.  Endurance can be divided into two categories. Muscle Endurance and Total Body Endurance.

Muscle endurance relates to the ability of the muscle to contract repeatedly with continued generation of tension over a period of time.  The number of contractions and the ability to maintain These contractions will improve as endurance improves.

Total body endurance relates to the ability to maintain a low-intensity activity over a prolonged period of time.  Examples are walking, jogging or aerobics. This type of exercise also improves cardiovascular or pulmonary fitness.
