Happiness

Abe Lincoln once said “Most people are as happy as they make their mind up to be”  Why be happy? The Field of Psychology finds that happiness is linked with health outcomes.  Happiness correlates with well-being and successful stress management.  Bad stress takes its toll on our bodies.  Chronic stress has been found to be related to:  Slow wound healing, age-related changes in inflammation, heart disease, type II diabetes, arthritis and ulcers.

Why is stress unhealthy?  Cortisol released over a lengthy period has adverse effects.  A great outlet for stress release is exercise and relaxation.  Also, research has shown that humor and laughter can be good for the  cardiovascular system during stress.
