Endurance Guidelines

Muscle endurance can take place in an exercise program designed to improve strength.  Endurance can also be achieved by exercises that are repeated against a moderate load to the point of muscle fatigue.  Total body endurance is related to aerobic capacity. In other words to the ability of the body to transport oxygen as well as improving the oxygen supply to the muscle.  Exercises that are designed to challenge the larger muscle groups like walking, running, swimming or biking promote endurance.

These exercises should include an effort of at least 15 to 45 minutes and the frequency should be at least every other day or 5 days a week.  Injury prevention can be improved when endurance exercises are incorporated.
